In a large bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high. Sprinkle malted milk balls evenly over warm cake. Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa, malted milk powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a large bowl.
Blooming the cocoa powder in boiling water and adding instant espresso powder to the batter produces deep chocolate flavor.
In a small saucepan whisk together heavy cream and malted milk powder; bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
With the mixer on low, slowly add water mixture and mix until combined. In a medium bowl, mix together boiling water and oil. In a medium bowl stir together the remaining cocoa powder, the flour, baking powder, and baking soda; set aside.
